Care Guide

Light: Like many variegated houseplants, the Golden Crocodile Philodendron thrives in bright light. Aim for a spot where the plant casts a moderate to strong shadow throughout the day. Ideally, place it within 3 feet of an east- or west-facing window that receives gentle morning or afternoon sun. If natural light is limited, don’t worry—this plant responds well to supplemental grow lights, making it adaptable to a variety of indoor environments.

Water: Water your Golden Crocodile Philodendron when the top inch or two of the potting mix feels dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering—if the soil stays too wet for too long, the roots can suffocate and rot. When in doubt, it’s better to wait; this plant is more tolerant of being slightly dry than consistently wet.

Soil: Use a well-draining aroid potting mix containing
perlite, bark, or coco coir.

Temperature & Humidity: The Golden Crocodile Philodendron thrives in average to above-average indoor humidity levels. In dry environments, the leaves may struggle to unfurl properly and can emerge deformed. If you suspect your indoor air is too dry, it’s a good idea to boost humidity around the plant.

You can do this by clustering it with other houseplants to create a natural humid microclimate, placing it near a small humidifier, or growing it in a display case, under a cloche, or in a dedicated plant cabinet.

Fertilizer: Keep temperatures between 65–80°F (18–27°C). Avoid cold drafts
and sudden temperature drops. Fertilize every 4–6 weeks during the growing
season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Cut back or stop fertilizing in fall
and winter.

Pruning & Maintenance:Your Golden Crocodile Philodendron typically requires little to no pruning. Simply remove old or yellowing leaves as they age naturally to keep the plant looking tidy and healthy.

Repotting: Repot young plants yearly, older ones every 2–3
years, using a slightly larger pot. Use well-draining soil, adding a layer of
expanded clay at the bottom. Transfer the plant, fill gaps with fresh mix, and
water well.

Safety:  Toxic to pets if ingested, keep out of reach of cats and
dogs.
