Ficus lyrata ‘Variegata’ is a rare and highly sought-after variegated form of the classic fiddle leaf fig, admired for its large violin-shaped leaves splashed with creamy white, lime, and rich green marbling. Each leaf develops unique variegation patterns, making every plant truly one of a kind. With its bold tropical appearance and upright tree-like growth habit, this statement plant adds a luxurious and modern touch to any indoor plant collection.

Native to tropical western Africa, this variegated cultivar thrives in bright indirect light and warm, humid conditions. New growth often emerges with stunning high-contrast variegation that becomes more pronounced with proper lighting. Due to its slower growth and unstable variegation, it is considered a collector’s plant and is more uncommon than the standard green Ficus lyrata.

Perfect as a premium indoor specimen, Ficus lyrata ‘Variegata’ combines dramatic foliage, architectural form, and rare variegation, making it a standout centerpiece for homes, studios, and curated plant spaces.

Care Guide

Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation. A few hours of soft morning sun is fine but avoid harsh afternoon sun. Low light will make the creamy tones fade and the plant turn greener.

Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix a blend with peat, perlite, and orchid bark works beautifully.

Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Ensure the pot has drainage holes this plant dislikes soggy roots. Reduce watering slightly during the winter months.

Temperature & Humidity: Loves warmth: 65–80°F (18–27°C).Average household humidity works fine, but it appreciates a little extra humidity in very dry conditions. Keep away from drafts, AC vents, and heaters.

Fertilizer: During the growing season (spring & summer), feed once a month with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Pause feeding in fall and winter.

Pruning: Wipe leaves occasionally to
keep them glossy and healthy. Prune leggy stems if you want a fuller, bushier
look.

Repotting – Repot young plants yearly, older ones every 2–3 years, using a slightly larger pot. Use well-draining soil, adding a layer of expanded clay at the bottom. Transfer the plant, fill gaps with fresh mix, and water well.

Safety:  Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach.
