Apoballis Red Sword, also known as Apoballis acuminatissima ‘Lavallaei’, is a striking foliage plant prized for its silky, smooth leaves decorated with a unique silver-and-green camouflage pattern. At first glance it resembles the popular Schismatoglottis Thailand, but what sets it apart is the dramatic reddish-purple underside that gives the plant its “Red Sword” name. With its elegant, elongated leaves and bold two-tone contrast, this variety brings an exotic, tropical flair to any indoor plant collection.
What Makes It Special:
✔ Two-Tone Foliage – Silky, silver-mottled leaves paired with a bold reddish-purple underside give this plant a dramatic, high-contrast look you won’t find in most aroids.
✔ Effortless Care – Apoballis Red Sword is refreshingly easygoing. It thrives in bright, indirect light but stays happy in medium light too. Keep the soil lightly moist, not soggy and let the top layer dry slightly between waterings.
✔ Expertly Repotted – Nestled in our premium 5-component soil blend for strong roots and perfect moisture balance.
✔ Locally Grown & Acclimated – Thrives faster and stays healthier, already adapted to your home’s conditions.

Care Guide
Light: Prefers bright to medium indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but growth may slow and coloration may become less vibrant. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water: Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil are dry. Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
Soil: Use a well-draining, airy mix such as potting soil combined with perlite and orchid bark. Good drainage is essential.
Temperature: Ideal range is 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature drops.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to average indoor levels. Higher humidity encourages healthier, larger foliage.
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in fall and winter.
Pruning & Maintenance: Remove yellowing or damaged leaves to encourage new growth and maintain appearance.
Tips: Provide space for expansion as it matures into a large, statement plant. Rotate occasionally for even growth.
