Angel Wing Begonia, of which there are many cultivars, gets its common name from the distinctive shape of its striking leaves. This particular variety, ‘Lady Vanderwilt,’ is a cane-type Begonia prized for its glossy, dark green, serrated foliage adorned with elegant silver markings. The undersides of the leaves display a rich burgundy tone, creating beautiful contrast. Each leaf is held on strong, upright stems that gradually become woody as the plant matures, adding structure and longevity to this stunning ornamental plant.

Care Guide

Light: Bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, while low light may reduce growth and flowering.

Water
: Water when the top 2–3 cm (1 inch) of soil feels dry. Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy; overwatering can cause root rot.

Soil: Use a well-draining, light potting mix - peat- or coco-based with added perlite works well.

Temperature: Thrives in 18–24°C (65–75°F). Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity (40–60%). Avoid misting directly on leaves; use a humidifier or pebble tray if air is very dry.

Fertilizer: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength.

Pruning: Prune leggy growth to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Cut just above a node.

Support: Taller plants may benefit from staking as stems mature and become woody.

Notes: Avoid wet leaves and overcrowding to reduce the risk of fungal issues.
