Alocasia Dragon Scale is a highly sought-after tropical aroid admired for its thick, textured foliage that resembles the scales of a mythical dragon. Its striking silver-green leaves and dark contrasting veins create a dramatic appearance that makes it one of the most popular collector alocasias.

As it matures, Alocasia Dragon Scale develops larger leaves with increasingly pronounced texture and veining. Its compact growth habit and sculptural foliage make it an exceptional statement plant for shelves, tabletops, and indoor plant displays.

Alocasia Dragon Scale is ideal for collectors seeking a unique tropical plant with extraordinary texture, compact growth, and strong visual appeal.

🌟 What Makes It Special:

✔ Dragon Scale Texture – Thick, heavily textured leaves create a distinctive reptilian appearance.

✔ Striking Vein Contrast – Silver-green foliage is highlighted by prominent dark veins for dramatic visual impact.

✔ Expertly Repotted – Nestled in our premium 5-component soil blend for strong roots and balanced moisture retention.

✔ Locally Grown & Acclimated – Thrives faster and stays healthier, already adapted to your home's conditions.

🌿 Growth Habit:

Alocasia Dragon Scale is an upright-growing tropical plant with a compact, clumping habit. As it matures, it produces larger leaves with enhanced texture and develops into a lush, architectural specimen.

🧾 Please Note (Alocasia Care Behavior):

Alocasia are naturally dynamic plants and may occasionally shed older leaves as part of their normal growth cycle — including a natural rest period in fall and winter where some leaf yellowing or die-back is completely normal. This allows the plants to redirect energy into producing new, healthy foliage. With stable conditions and proper care, they will continue to replace leaves and remain vigorous over time.

All photos are representative examples only. Each plant is naturally unique and will vary in size, shape, texture, and variegation pattern while remaining consistent with the described variety.

Plant Care Guide

Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. Can tolerate moderate light, but growth may slow.

Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Reduce watering slightly in winter when growth slows.

Soil: Well-draining, airy soil mix. A mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark works well. Avoid compacted or water-retentive soils.

Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C).
Humidity: 60%+ preferred, though it adapts to 50%. Boost humidity with a humidifier, pebble tray, or grouping plants.

Fertilizer: Feed monthly during growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in fall and winter.

Potting & Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Use a pot with drainage holes to prevent root rot.

Safety:  Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach.

Seasonal Care Tips

Spring
As light and growth increase, provide bright indirect light, refresh watering when the top 2–5 cm of soil is dry, and maintain steady warmth with moderate to high humidity.

Summer
Protect foliage from intense afternoon sun, water more consistently as soil dries faster, and keep humidity elevated. Avoid hot drafts and temperatures above 30°C.

Fall
As daylight softens, move plants closer to bright filtered light, gradually reduce watering, and keep them away from cool windows and drafts.

Winter
Provide the brightest available indirect light, water sparingly once the soil begins to dry, and maintain humidity while keeping plants comfortably above 15°C. Avoid placing them beside radiators or cold glass.
