ZZ Plant, scientifically konwn as Zamioculcas zamiifolia, is a tropical perennial native to Eastern Africa that has become popular worldwide in recent years due to its tolerance of a range of conditions. The ZZ grows smooth, naturally shiny, individual leaflets that start out a bright lime in their youth and darken to emerald green in their maturity. They spring from thick, slightly bulbous stalks, which grow from large, water-storing rhizomes hidden underneath the soil. It is one of the most popular houseplants for both beginners and experienced plant enthusiasts.

Care Guide
Light: Adapts to low to bright indirect light. Bright, indirect light helps the new leaves maintain their vibrant lime-green color. Avoid prolonged direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Water: Extremely drought-tolerant allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common problem (root rot). Reduce watering in winter.
Temperature & Humidity: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Average household humidity is sufficient. Protect from frost and cold drafts.
Fertilizer: Feed lightly once a month
during spring and summer with a balanced, diluted fertilizer. No fertilizer
needed in fall and winter.
Repotting: Repot young plants yearly, older ones every 2–3 years, using a slightly larger pot. Use well-draining soil, adding a layer of expanded clay at the bottom. Transfer the plant, fill gaps with fresh mix, and water well.
Pruning & Maintenance: Remove yellowing or damaged leaves at the base. Repot every 2–3 years or when roots crowd the pot. Wipe leaves occasionally to maintain their glossy appearance.
Safety: Like other ZZ Plants,
Zamioculcas ‘Chameleon’ is toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
